FREDDY K
LOCATION: Berlin via Rome
AFFILIATION: KEY Vinyl
A self-described "techno activist," Freddy K (Alessio Armeni) has been a tireless defender of vinyl and underground culture since the early '90s. His journey began in Rome with the influential Virus movement, which spanned a daily radio show, a record shop, and legendary parties that defined the "Sound of Rome." After years of reinforcing the scene from the shadows—helping run labels like M_Rec and Elettronica Romana, where he supported the early careers of Donato Dozzy and Giorgio Gigli—he relocated to Berlin in 2009 and launched KEY Vinyl, a label strictly dedicated to the traditionalist art of the DJ.
In the booth, Freddy K is world-renowned for his "360-degree" style of techno and his marathon vinyl-only sessions, which often reach 14 to 16 hours in length. A master of the closing set, he became a notorious figure at Berlin’s Homopatik before bringing his high-energy, mercurial selections to the main room of Berghain. His sets are defined by a deep commitment to the dancefloor and a belief that the final 20 minutes of a party are the most important, cementing his status as a "DJ’s DJ" who remains fiercely loyal to the raw essence of rave.
